Back in the day, Fishbone used to kick it with some cats that by the name Weapon Of Choice. They were bad as hell, and funky for days. Anybody know what they are/were up to?

Thanks for the info. Lonnie's one bad motherfucker. I've yet to hit the Potty Plunger myself, but my friend tells me it'll put your ass out, if you're not careful. Who else has he got playing with him? Is Keefus still around?

WOC -- yeah these are freinds of mine. Lonnie put together one of the best bands ever to come out of LA. He had all of the best players -- Finn Hammer (a true guitar master-- he made me a better drummer; we had a little band called "IT", perhaps you've seen us?), Keefus (I never knew anyone to take keys to this level, I mean playing a clavinet through a distortion pedal, and taking the cover off and strumming the strings--Genius), Lonnie of course playing the biggest and most power-pack (and sparse) basslines, And how about Thom Bone on the Trombone???His playing brought a unique darkness which was the sound of Ghetto soul. He always had me thinking of that cool 70's sound like Curtis Mayfield....THE DRUMMERS-- 1. Fish (nuf said), 2.Scott Garrett (I leaned a lot from this cat, he colud play so open and dead-on, you could set a watch to his beats; he eventually ended up playing with The Cult and now plays in Japan with a big popstar there) 3. Trevor (a funk/jazz powerhouse) 4. D-Wreck (played with the goats, this was a really cool cat from Philly with style to spare), 5. Mary Harris (I couldn't believe how she could paly AND sing, and I mean SING!). Then there's Mark and Audra, (they've made the vocals parts really come together. Last but not least, what red-blooded male could resist Jellybean's ferociously sexy dancing -- in tighties whities too!

Now the band still gets out, they've recently played the Little Temple and the Gig here in LA. Lonnie still has a knack for bringing the top people. Mark sings and play keys now, Audra is still singing, as is Jellybean now. A few of the cats in the new lineup are a little new to me, but I like the gal on the trombone, she cool. They're all really good still, and blow away so many bands here in LA today...

Ocassionally (in the early days) you could've seen WOC with Lili Hayden on Violin (and even guy on cello, I think Mitch was his name) -- that was cool too.

Went up to SF with them in the late 90's. Saw some crazy shit at the PAradise Lounge -- jams with Tim (herb) Alexander from Primus, Of course also with Arik (lonnie's bro), I even got up on the drums sometimes (with my main man Rusty Logston killing the bass and doing the running man at the same time).

    THIS WAS TRUE FUNK.

    Fun days, fer sure.

    Can you get a nut?

    Mista John
